It’s here. June is finally here. After weeks of cooking birthday dinners, shopping, planning renewal details, running to the city, and the big one—the kiddo finally getting into his home—this girl is throwing down an anchor for a bit and relaxing. I’m not even sure I remember how to do that. I don’t have five lists to update, Amazon packages arriving daily, or the usual stress (are you kidding me?). The fact that we even made it to our 30th that month was shocking. Lol.
Now the month is behind us, the chop has settled, and I’m ready to set a new course. My To-Do has turned into a list I don’t have to do.
So what am I going to do? I have no idea. That’s the beauty of it. But here are a few thoughts I’ve been tossing around…

- Self-care. Yup, that’s right. I’ll sleep in (that’s 6 a.m. for me).
- Read a book.
- Reintroduce myself to my Peloton and FightCamp boxing bag.
- Break up with Amazon. We had a good run, but now we need some space.
- Pretend I’m finally going to plant that garden.
- Figure out the skincare routine I invested in. (Finally!)
- Unplug my Google Home for a bit. He’s getting an attitude and keeps answering me from multiple locations.
- Charge all my devices—or at least find and label all my charger cords.
- Drink more water. Whoops, typo. Drink more wine.
- Embrace and use the words “I don’t know.” I don’t know what’s for dinner. I don’t know what I’m doing this weekend. I don’t know if we have any catsup. (We do. Open the fridge and look!)
- Build the deck we’ve had support beams laid out for. Okay, pretend to build the deck. Pull out the saws, nail gun, spacers, and clamps—then loudly ask Google, “How do you use a power saw?” so the guys nearby run over to mansplain it to me, take over, and I can get back to that book.
- Spend time on the boat. I often sit back while the gentle waves rock me, counting my blessings that my stress and craziness come from all the gifts in my life.
So that’s it. I’ve done my June list. I’m sure there will be a few course changes along the way, but I guess that’s what keeps life interesting. Now I’m off to brunch to kick it all off.
Check out my past Port of Call and The Engine Room to learn more about it—why I crave the Brisket Eggs Benedict and why, after I eat it, I must immediately cross number three off my list.
